Second Prize winner of the 2019 Queen Elisabeth Competition, Timothy Chooi was also the First Prize winner of Hannover’s 2018 Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition and the First Prize and Audience Choice Winner of the 2018 Schadt String Competition. He was also awarded prizes from New Zealand’s Michael Hill and the Montreal Symphony ManuLife competitions, and the 2018 Verbier Festival Academy Prix Yves Paternot, for the “Most Accomplished Young Musician.” He has performed with every major orchestra in Canada. Upcoming are returns to the Toronto and Montreal symphony orchestras, National Arts Centre Orchestra Ottawa, and the Belgian National Orchestra, and debuts with the Russian National Orchestra, DSO Berlin, Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, Saarländisches Staatsorchester, and the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra. He studied at the Mount Royal University Conservatory, Curtis Institute of Music, and The Juilliard School.
