Thomas Mesa, Cuban-American cellist, has established himself as one of the most charismatic, innovative, and engaging performers of his generation. As the winner of First Prize in the 2016 Sphinx Competition and 2017 Astral National Auditions, he has also appeared as a soloist with major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Cleveland Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. This year he will appear on tour with Sphinx Virtuosi, performing Divided for solo cello and orchestra by Jessie Montgomery. He also has planned a 30-venue recital tour with duo partner and pianist, Ilya Yakushev. Later this year, Thomas will be releasing two albums of new music for solo cello and cello/piano with Michelle Cann. In the Fall of 2021, Thomas will be the cello professor at The Conservatory of Music at Purchase College (SUNY).
