A Menuhin International Violin Competition Silver Medalist, winner of a 2018 Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant, and a top prizewinner of the Naumburg International Violin Competition, Danbi Um is a current artist member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS). She opens CMS’s 50th-anniversary season in the fall of 2019 in Alice Tully Hall, and is Astral’s Spotlight Artist with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia in the spring of 2020. She has been soloist with the Israel Symphony, Auckland Philharmonic, Vermont Symphony, Herzliya Chamber Orchestra, and others, and has appeared in the Kennedy Center, Kimmel Center, Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Chicago’s Harris Theatre, and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. At age ten, she was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music. She also holds an Artist Diploma from Indiana University.
