Winner of an S&R Washington Foundation Award and Second Place winner of The American Prize, Brittany Lasch is Principal Trombone of the Detroit Opera Orchestra. She has appeared as a guest artist at numerous festivals including the International Trombone Festival, the International Women’s Brass Conference, and the American Trombone Workshop. In addition, she has performed with the St. Louis, Detroit, and Nashville Symphonies, among others. The first-ever trombonist to win the U.S. Army Band’s National Collegiate Solo Competition, she has returned as soloist with its “Pershing’s Own” band and was a guest for its American Trombone Workshop. An advocate for new music, Brittany has commissioned and performed numerous new pieces for the trombone, including works by Inez McComas and Reena Esmail. Holding degrees from Boston University, the Yale School of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music, Brittany is also Assistant Professor of Trombone at Bowling Green State University and on faculty at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute.
