Winner of the 2022 Pro Musicis International Award, 2020 Salon de Virtuosi Career Grant, and 2019 National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Competition, cellist Alexander Hersh recently made his Carnegie Hall recital debut. In addition to being the co-Artistic Director of the Chicago-based NEXUS Chamber Music collective, he has been soloist with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops and has been a top prizewinner at the New York International Artists Association, Ima Hogg, Schadt, Luminarts, Hellam Young Artist, Society of American Musicians, Fischoff, and Chicago National Chamber Music competitions. He has participated in the Marlboro Music, Chamber Music Northwest, Caramoor, Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Music@Menlo, Perlman Music Program Chamber Music Workshop, Piatigorsky International Cello Festival, Amsterdam Cello Biennial, Lucerne, and Domaine Forget festivals, among many others. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the New England Conservatory, and was the recipient of a Frank Huntington Beebe Fund grant for studies in Berlin. Alexander is a winner of the 2019 Astral Artists National Competition.
