“Lion of the keyboard, sensational”—Wiesbadener Kurier
Winner of the 2012 New Orleans International Piano Competition, Viktor Valkov recently gave a critically acclaimed recital in London’s Wigmore Hall. He has been soloist with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, New Symphony Orchestra, and the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. He has made several recordings for the Bulgarian National Radio archive, and for Bulgarian National Television and Macedonian Radio and Television. With Bulgarian cellist Lachezar Kostov, he performed in Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, won the Liszt-Garisson International Competition, and released two CDs, including Nikolay Roslavets’ entire opus for cello and piano, for Naxos. He studied at the State Music Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria, the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Germany, and The Juilliard School, and currently pursues a doctoral degree at Rice University.
