Sarah Shafer makes her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2018 as Azema in Rossini’s Semiramide. She debuted in 2012 at the Glyndebourne Festival and BBC Proms, in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and debuted the roles of Rosetta in Marco Tutino’s Two Women and Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden, both world premieres for San Francisco Opera. This season, she appears as soloist with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra in Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 and with Utah Symphony Orchestra in Mozart’s Mass in C minor. She has also been soloist with The Philadelphia Orchestra, National Orchestra of Mexico, San Antonio Symphony, Omaha Symphony, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Wroclaw Symphony Orchestra (Poland), and the Lexington and Louisiana philharmonic orchestras, among many others. She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music.
