In the 2016-2017 season, Nikki Chooi served as Concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. During the 2015-2016 season, he was a member of the genre-defying Astral laureate ensemble Time for Three. The First Prize winner of New Zealand’s 2013 Michael Hill International Violin Competition and a Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition, he came to national attention in 2004 as the Grand Award winner of both the Canadian National Music Festival and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal Standard Life competitions. He has been soloist with the Victoria, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Santa Cruz symphonies, as well as the National Orchestra of Belgium, Malaysian Philharmonic, Auckland Philharmonia, Calgary Philharmonic, Louisville Orchestra, and Orchestre Symphonique de Laval. He holds degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School.
